Nelson Orthodontics

Teeth have always played an important role in the Nelson family. Dr. James Nelson (Paul’s father) founded the practice in 1966 and enjoyed his work very much. This influenced the entire family as four of his sons followed his footsteps into the dental profession with two becoming dentists and two specializing in orthodontics. This tradition continues with three of Paul’s sons currently pursuing careers in dentistry!

Following dental school, he completed a General Practice Residency at the V. A. Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Paul then returned to the University of Washington to complete his graduate studies in orthodontics, where he received his orthodontic certificate and master’s degree.

In 1995, Paul joined his father at Nelson Orthodontics, where, as Dr. James liked to say with a smile, “the real education began.”

Paul now practices in both Ballard and Magnolia where he carries on the Nelson Orthodontics tradition of excellent patient care delivered in an extremely friendly environment.

Outside of work Paul can be found spending time with his wife traveling to visit their growing extended family. He is also a loyal Mariners fan and enjoys reading, hiking and trying to figure out his golf swing in his spare time.
